Scholarships & Tuition Assistance

We provide scholarships & tuition assistance to students

Available Scholarships

The Desmond Heeley Scholarship honors the legendary designer who worked for the Stratford festival for 57 seasons and inspired all our teaching artists. An award of $500 is given to a student enrolled in our five-week Theatre Production Arts program.

The Glenn Elliott Scholarship is named after teaching artist and prop maker Glenn Elliott who worked backstage at the Stratford Festival for 36 seasons. Up to $500 is awarded to one or two students enrolled in at least two summer courses.

The Theatre Production Arts Bursary is donated by Off the Wall supporter and board member Pam Zabel. An award of $600 is given to a Huron or Perth County student enrolled in our five-course Theatre Production Arts program.

Tuition Assistance is awarded to students who would benefit from our courses but find tuition fees prohibitive. Youth between the ages of 16 and 30 are welcome to apply, as well as those who don’t have the means to pay in full.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

The application requirements for all Off the Wall awards are:

  • Letter from the applicant about their theatre experience, goals for the course(s) they are taking, and need for funding.
  • Letter from a teacher or director supporting the application assuring us of the student’s interest and commitment to theatre as well as their work ethic.

PDF copies of these letters are to be sent, at the same time, to admin@stratfordoffthewall.com to be forwarded to our scholarship committee.

All applications are welcome. However, there is no guarantee that all those who apply will receive tuition assistance, as funds are limited.

THEATRE AEZIR BURSARY

Theatre Aezir, in their ongoing effort to support young theatre artists (16 – 30 years of age), announces the initiation of an annual Educational Bursary.  In partnership with Off The Wall, Stratford Artists Alliance, Theatre Aezir is offering a sum of $1000.00. This money will cover the cost of one class plus some living expenses. Theatre Aezir will pay for the class of your choice and transfer the remainder to the recipient.

Our aim is to enable a theatre artist to further their education and experience. Examples would be set design, costume design, set building, make-up design and implementation and prop making. Please see the available classes by using this link. stratfordoffthewall.com/courses

The Application Process will include an application form, a resume or CV, a statement of financial need, and two references who may speak to your aptitude, abilities, and interest. Application deadline is June 15, 2024. The recipient will be announced on June 20, 2024.

The selection process will take into consideration financial need, previous successful projects or experience and a personal statement. Creativity will be judged in all attachments with the exception of financials. The applications will be reviewed by the Board of Directors of Theatre Aezir.

This is a one-time grant, but all are welcome to apply each year.

Please email elizabeth@theatreaezir.com to request an application form.
