Wig making
Sharon has been in the business of making, styling and organizing wigs for Theatre for hundreds of productions over the past 44 years. Starting in Winnipeg at the Manitoba Theatre Centre for 9 seasons where she learned the craft of wig making and styling, Sharon’s career has spanned the country in theatres from coast to coast as well as on many film and television projects, culminating with her latest job for the last 23 years as Wig and Makeup Supervisor at the Canadian Opera Company.
Sharon has created wigs and prepped shows for many theatres both large scale and intimate, including Vancouver Playhouse, Belfry Theatre, Pacific Opera Victoria, Theatre Calgary, Canadian Stage, Shaw Festival, Tarragon Theatre, Crows Theater, Neptune Theatre, and Tapestry Opera to name just a few.
Notable shows she has worked on: 12 years with Livent including Phantom of the Opera, Showboat, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Ragtime, Fosse, and Les Misérables — the Canadian Tour and the production in Halifax. Notable performers she has worked with: Cloris Leachman, Ned Beatty, Marin Mazzie, Donny Osmond, Paul Stanley, Sondra Radvanovsky, Dianne Carroll, Martin Short, Steven Suttcliffe and Fiona Reid.
As well as theatre wigs, over the last few years Sharon has extended her knowledge of wigs to private clients who wish to add wigs into their daily lives. With such a passion for her craft, Sharon is excited to share this knowledge with, and spark that same feeling in, others.
