Mark Flanagan
Theatrical Carpentry
After completing University of Toronto’s Professional Education Program in Technology Studies with a Construction focus, Mark began teaching carpentry at St. Michael Catholic District High School, where he soon became Head of Technology studies. While at St. Michael, he earned both an OCTE “Excellence in Teaching” Award, and a Dick Hopkins Award for “Excellence in Technological Education.”
Throughout his 23-year teaching career, Mark was very active in community life – coaching sports, fundraising for families in need, organizing international trips, and volunteering in school activities, such as creating props for theatrical productions.
For the past four years, Mark has worked for the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board, overseeing skilled-trades programming in secondary schools, and coordinating all aspects of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program throughout elementary and secondary schools. While here, he also coordinated the HPCDSB Skills Canada Competition in conjunction with the Skills Ontario Provincial Competition.
With his heart in the classroom, Mark looks forward to mentoring Off the Wall students in Introductory and Intermediate Theatrical Carpentry courses. He has arranged Off the Wall’s use of St. Michael CSS Construction Shop for these classes.
