Scenic Painting
(Course 4: Theatre Production Arts)
Students will learn techniques and methods used in theatre for generations by
scenic artists in Europe and North America. The use and safe handling of materials
and tools will be taught, as well as: colour theory, mixing, chemical compatibility, marbling, brick and concrete facades, wood graining,
continental painting, show curtains, aging and breaking down, gridding and scaling up, preparing and painting a backdrop.
This course will be divided based on students' level of experience -- beginners through advanced (please indicate your skill-level when you register).
*This program is Course 4 of the Theatre Production Arts six-week course, which is offered in collaboration with Alternative Theatre Works and will result in a public performance at Factory163.
